RV College of Engineering: Admission
Admission to RV College of Engineering (RVCE) Bangalore can be gained through three different routes:
Route No. 1. – KCET and Counselling conducted by KEA
Route No. 2. – COMEDK UGET and Counselling conducted by COMEDK
Route No. 3. – Direct Admission through Management Quota and NRI Quota.
Now, let’s understand each route of admission process one-by-one.
Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET)
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is an annual state-level examination conducted by the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority). It is intended for students who have completed or are appearing for their 12th Grade exams.
KCET scores are used to determine admission into various professional undergraduate courses offered by government, private, and autonomous institutions in Karnataka.
Students from the Karnataka state or studied for more than 7 years in Karnataka, they can only appear KCET entrance exam.
KCET entrance exam provides access to a range of professional courses in engineering, medicine, architecture, pharmacy, agriculture, and more, into government, private, and autonomous colleges in Karnataka.
After appearing the KCET exam, candidates must participate in the counselling process to secure seats based on their ranks and preferences. 100% seats in government engineering colleges are filled through the counselling process and approximately 45% to 50% seats in private engineering colleges get filled through the counselling process.
COMEDK Undergraduate Entrance Test (COMEDK UGET)
Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation have formed “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK) for conducting a common entrance examination, and centralized counselling for admission into member institutions.
COMEDK UGET usually conducting every year in May month, students from outside Karnataka as well as from the Karnataka state can appear this exam for admission to B.E./B.Tech engineering programs in Karnataka’s private colleges.
Around 30% to 35% seats in the private engineering colleges get filled through the COMEDK counselling process.
RV College Direct Admission through Management Quota
20% to 25% seats in private engineering colleges get filled directly through management quota, college management have all control on these seats on every terms from seat allocation to fee collection.
Generally, management quota seats are costlier than the seats secured through COMEDK and KCET counselling, and through management quota there is no counselling seats or admission will be offered directly based on donation and higher tuition to the college management or trust.
RV College Direct Admission through NRI Quota
Few chunks of the total seats in the private engineering colleges are being offered to NRI, PIO, OCI, CIWG and Nepali students directly, sometimes they do not require to appear into any entrance exams.
RV College of Engineering offer Direct Admission through NRI Quota to international students coming from Gulf countries and Nepal or student’s relatives who are hailed from Gulf countries or working in Gulf countries for more than 5 years can sponsor them for their education.
